OPEN HOUSES
Prospective students and their parents are invited to visit Desert Academy at either of the two open houses: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 or Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. During these informative and interactive evenings, students attend a variety of classes and electives while their parents hear about Desert’s approach to education from each department.

SCHOOL VISIT AND INTERVIEW FOR STUDENTS
As a means to get to know Desert Academy even better, students are requested to spend a morning shadowing a Desert student. During this time a member of the admissions team will interview them. We like to think of the interview as an informal conversation through which we strive to get to know our prospective students.
Shadowing dates: November 21; December 5; January 9, 16, 23, 30; February 6, 20, 27
Drop off is at 8:15 a.m. and pick up is at 12:10 p.m.

COFFEE WITH THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
On shadowing days, prospective parents who drop off their children for shadowing are invited to join the Head of School, Terry Passalacqua, for coffee and an informal discussion about the school and the programs we offer. This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the International Baccalaureate Programme and how it might serve your child.

PARENT VISITS
Parents have yet another opportunity to get to know Desert Academy close up. If you would like to visit with the Admissions Director, tour the school, talk to available members of the faculty, and get a glimpse of classes in action, please call 992-8284 ext 14 to request an appointment.

EARLY ADMISSION
Often families are interested in receiving an early decision on their child’s application to Desert. A 5% tuition discount is available to prospective students who are enrolled through this early admission process. To be considered, candidates must have submitted their completed application, shadowed, and been interviewed by January 30, 2009.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Desert Academy’s much anticipated Merit Scholarship, which will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 9 a.m., is open to all prospective students grades 7 through 12. The deadline to submit the Merit Scholarship registration form to the school is 12 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009.

REGULAR ADMISSIONS
The deadline for regular admissions to Desert Academy is Friday, February 27, 2009. Prospective students must have submitted their completed application, shadowed, and been interviewed by this date. Decision letters will be received by April 2, and new student contracts will be due by the deadline stipulated in the letter.
