Welcome to Desert Academy!
Choosing your child’s school is a significant decision for your family and we are grateful that you are considering Desert Academy. As you weigh your options for education, you are likely wondering whether your child will be prepared both academically and emotionally for the future. Desert Academy can offer you a student-centered and internationally minded education right here in the diverse cultural roots and beautiful landscape of Santa Fe. Here’s what makes our school unique:
INNOVATION: Our approach to education is based on inquiry, personal attention in small classes, environments in and outside of the classroom tailored for learning and growth, and opportunities to apply what is learned in new situations.
LEADERSHIP: A team of stellar International Baccalaureate educators, over a third of whom are international citizens, who have refined and improved our curriculum since we became authorized as New Mexico’s first International Baccalaureate World School.
CONNECTIVITY: Desert emphasizes making connections between subjects, between students across grade levels, between individuals from diverse backgrounds, and with both our local and global communities.
RIGOR: Desert Academy offers both the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, offering our students an advantage in college and beyond as our cohesive, layered curriculum prepares them for future academic challenges—a modern education for our ever-changing world.
OPPORTUNITY: In addition to the rigorous academic prep offered by Desert, out students are able to pursue a full range of experiences in music, theater, film, visual arts, design, technology, athletics and over two dozen clubs and student run organizations.
ASSURANCE: Desert offers students a safe place to stand out as we acknowledge the potential of each individual student and foster a life long love of learning that will serve them always.
All applicants to Desert Academy and their families are asked to spend at least a half day immersed in our community. After the campus tour, parents will have the opportunity to meet with our Head of School and additional staff and faculty, while students have the chance to visit classes and enjoy lunch with our students. I am confident that you will agree that Desert Academy is, indeed, a unique place.
